FALLING IN LOVE: A Coming of Age, Selfie Film

A young teen talks to 'someone' on her phone, the 'you' who has comforted her during her first year in a new location. Maybe the 'you' is her diary, maybe someone else. In these conversations the girl shares her loneliness at moving and loosing her best friend, her beginning friendship with new kids, her realization that she has just fallen in love again, and all the ups and downs that happen. There is a crisis, which involves her new love and it is resolved at the very end of the film in a way that shows her resiliency and her determination to enjoy life.

This film is based on Barbara Becker Holstein's book, 'Secrets, Diary of a Gutsy Teen.' However, the addition of her Selfie reports to the 'you' out there is not in the book and opens the door to many other issues that kids face in today's world of social media. A great film to see with your daughter! The crisis may seem almost funny, but the whole story and all she goes through will trigger tons of feelings and memories in all who watch!
